Dubbing artiste Raveena Ravi opens up about her film career
Dubbing artistes are an unheralded lot in the industry. They are the ones who give life to the characters on screen with their voice, intonation, enunciation, pronunciation and modulation, matching the expressions of the actor on screen. More so for the numerous non-Tamil speaking heroines, the dubbing artiste's job is paramount and very crucial.
Raveena Ravi is one such young dubbing artiste who has been the voice of many leading heroines like Samantha (Kaththi), Amala Paul (Nimirndhu Nil), Amy Jackson (I), Sridivya (Jeeva), Kajal Aggarwal (Paayum Puli), Amyra Dastur (Anegan), Deepa Sannidhi (Yatchan) to name a few.
We catch up with this lady with a really expressive voice, on the back of her successive releases in recent times,
"I am the third generation dubbing artiste from my family, after my mother Sreeja Ravi and grandmother Narayani. I just happened to get into this line and didn't really plan anything. Saattai was my first film as a dubbing artiste and I have completed close to 35 films over the past couple of years. I have spoken for films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and also for ads in Hindi and Bengali.
I would call Anegan my most challenging project as I had to speak for Amyra in all the periods accordingly. And 'I' was the film which got me great reach and exposure. Even though I am active in social media and get good feedback there, the awareness and recognition for dubbing artistes in general can be much better, when it comes to awards. Hope the situation improves.
I aspire to become a heroine and hopefully things will fall in place soon. I am taking up acting classes as well to hone my skills."
Good luck Raveena, on all your upcoming endeavors.
