Karthi on his choice of movies and his audience

''Comedy didn't work out for me'' - Karthi's frank talk

Jun 19, 2014

Karthi started off with the pathbreaking Paruthiveeran, the ambitious Aayirathil Oruvan and went on to notch hits such as Paiyya, Naan Mahaan Alla and Siruthai. But he could not sustain the promising start and met with some disappointment in the past few years.

In a recent interview, when he was asked if he had lost all the children, family audience from his Paiyya days, he denied and said, “Still children address me as 'Jinthatha' and 'Karthi Mama'”

Karthi also categorically defended his choice of movies. He said, “Since children and women are averse to action subjects, I chose the comedy track. But that didn’t work out. Even if we have the best intentions, not all our choices have to work.”

Karthi’s next, Madras, directed by Ranjith, is eyeing a July 25 release and carries highly promising pre-release buzz.
