Vathiyar continues to rule

It was a treat for the massive fan base of ‘Vathiyar’ (late Dr. MG Ramachandran) this election season, when the evergreen Aayirathil Oruvan’s restored version hit the screens. The classic successfully completes 50 days run today and is still going strong.
 

In Chennai the film is being screened at Sathyam’s Studio 5 and Baby Albert, with a show each. The 50 days poster, which was released today, modestly claims that the film is marching towards its 75^th day. But would it even be a surprise if it crosses the 100 day mark with ease, considering the fan base the lead cast, matinee idol MGR and current Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Dr. J Jayalalithaa, still have in the state?
