The departed K.Balachander was not only a path-breaking director who dabbled in bold themes, but also a producer who picked commercially viable films of other directors and boosted the careers of a lot of stars, including the current generation ones.

 

His Kavithalaya Productions banner has funded many landmark movies which are remembered till date. Here we list out a few memorable ones.

 

Featuring Superstar Rajini - Netrikan, Naan Mahaan Alla, Annamalai and Muthu - all mighty successful films at the box-office for the Superstar at various points of his celebrated career.

 

Roja - the film which introduced A.R.Rahman to the Tamil industry and made Mani Ratnam a national brand.

 

Saamy - an all-center blockbuster for Chiyaan Vikram and Hari in 2003.

 

Thirumalai - a much-needed comeback hit for Ilayathalapathy Vijay in 2003.
