Honours for Thanga Meengal and Haridas

The closing award function of the 11^th Chennai International Film Festival was held today at a prominent venue in the city. The evening saw a lot of revered members from the Indian film industry including the likes of popular Bollywood director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra who made the highly acclaimed Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

The evening played host to recognizing some of the best talent and content to emerge from the Tamil industry this year. In that regard Ram’s Thanga Meengal won the first place for the best film while Haridas was awarded the second place. Special jury awards went out Sadhana and Prithviraj Das, the child artists in Thanga Meengal and Haridas respectively.

Young composer Anirudh walked away with the Amitabh Bachchan award for ‘Youth Icon of the Year’. Atharvaa too was recognized for his efforts in Paradesi.
