Vishwaroopam aka Viswaroopam directed by Kamal Haasan aka Kamal Hasan falls under the scanner

Kamal Haasan misusing freedom of expression?

Sep 07, 2013

Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2 is under the scanner at the moment. During the release of the first part of the sequel, we had reported the issues surrounding its release and that Kamal Haasan had to remove a few scenes, as certain groups claimed that it hurt their sentiments.

Vishwaroopam 2 which was being planned for release by Diwali or later in the month of November appears to have problems as well. Jawahar Ali, the leader of the Tamilnadu Muslim League spoke about it in a recent interview.

We are disappointed to learn that Vishwaroopam 2 has scenes that portray Muslims as terrorists and also has scenes that hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims. Kamal Haasan portraying Muslims in bad light in his movies, and later trying to promote his product claiming that it is freedom of expression, is not a good thing to do as an artist. People should stop making movies that hurt others. The directors of Dam 999 and Madras Café should understand that their movie was banned in Tamilnadu due to the same reasons. Thereby, we request Kamal Haasan to make sure he does not include scenes that hurt our sentiments in his upcoming movie.
