I happen to watch Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom(NKPK) recently and I was really impressed with Balaji Tharaneetharan's direction and the story. Then it hit me. Recently, the two movies that impressed me so much had Vijay Sethupathi in it. Pizza and now NKPK.

Vijay Sethupathi is slowly establishing himself as a good actor in Tamil cinema. He is still fresh so, clearly he would not have many choices in choosing scripts. Yet, he chose really good stories and succeeded. Most of the movies he acted in, were commercially successful besides some being critically acclaimed (Thenmerku Paruvakaatru). Hence, his success ratio is extremely high for a new comer. Much to my surprise, he even acted in Pudhupettai, Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, Sundarapandian and few other movies in a small role.

So, the question is 'Is he really smart in choosing scripts or he just gets lucky most of the time'? Whatever the answer is, I really hope he will continue to act in movies with good stories.

As he does that, tonnes of praises and wishes will be over him. This is the crucial point in his career. He might want to take the so called 'the next step' in his career and become a mass hero or as some claims as 'the entertainer'. We have whole load of them and we don't need 'the entertainers' anymore but we need more like Vijay's kind of movies. Brilliant, yet interesting and enjoyable.

I really hope no one will brainwash Vijay to act in the typical Tamil action movies. You are doing a great job now Vijay. Stick to your pattern. His next movies seem promising too. Soodhu Kavvum directed by debutant Nalan Kumarasamy of 'Naalaya Iyakkunar' fame and Rummy directed by debutant K.Balakrishnan. All the best for your future undertakings Vijay Sethupathi!
