In a shocking and unusual case, an American woman was arrested at Manila’s airport and charged with human trafficking. She was attempting to carry a 6-day-old baby out of Philippines.

Woman Arrested After Baby Found Hidden Inside Bag

The woman has been identified as Jennifer Erin Talbot, 43. When reporters asked her to comment, she just shook her head. 

As per The Times report, the Philippine officials said the lady was able to pass through the airport immigration counter without declaring the baby boy but was intercepted at the boarding gate by airline personnel.

After she was unable to produce any passport, boarding pass or government permits for the baby, airport officials took the mater in hand.

According to airport officials, the woman had planned to board a Delta Air Lines flight to the United States with the baby. After the airline staff called immigration personnel, who arrested the woman at the airport. 

She was later handed over to the National Bureau of Investigation and the baby was turned over to government welfare personnel, The Time further reported.

The NBI said Talbot presented an affidavit at the airport, allegedly from the baby’s mother, identified as Maricris Dulap, giving consent for the baby to travel to the U.S., but it had not been signed by the mother.

Airport officials further stated that, the charges carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. She has also violated at least two other laws on child abuse, kidnapping and illegal detention.

During interrogation, the officials found out that the woman presented an affidavit at the airport, allegedly from the baby’s mother, who has been identified as Maricris Dulap, gave consent for the baby to travel to the U.S., but it had not been signed by the mother.
