The World Health Organization said recently that it is studying if there is a possible link between Coronavirus and a very rare inflammatory disease which has affected and killed children in Europe and United States.

New disease in midst of Corona chaos!

In the past few weeks, several countries have reported cases wherein children were affected by an inflammatory disease. The symptoms of this syndrome matched with a rare condition called Kawasaki’s disease.

"Initial reports hypothesise that this syndrome may be related to COVID-19. It is critical to urgently and carefully characterise this clinical syndrome, to understand causality and to describe treatment interventions," WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a virtual briefing on Friday.

Tedros’ announcement comes after a doctor in France reported on Friday that a nine- year old boy who had tested positive for COVID19 died due to the syndrome. Reportedly, similar deaths of children have been documented in New York and London.

Tedros's comments came after a doctor in France on Friday said a nine-year-old boy there who had tested positive for COVID-19 had died from the syndrome, marking the first such death in the country.

Maria Van Kerkhove, a WHO expert told in the virtual briefing that the link to COVID19 has not been established yet. She said that some of the children did not test positive for COVID19 but either processed symptoms or were affected by the syndrome.

Reportedly, all the experts stressed that the link between COVID19 and this syndrome is yet to be fully established and the occurrence of this disease is rare. WHO is now trying to delve deeper into research in order to understand the syndrome better.
