Facebook-owned photo-sharing site Instagram is adding an option to report false information, the company announced on Thursday. This is in effect to control misinformation and abuses.

Not just on FB, you can do \'THIS\' on Instagram, too

Posting or sharing false information is not banned though on Facebook, it can be reported or flagged. The photo-sharing platform was yet to get an option which was updated now.

Facebook has 54 fact-checking partners working in 42 languages, but Instagram's programme is only for the USA for now.

"This is an initial step as we work towards a more comprehensive approach to tackling misinformation," said Stephanie Otway.
