Google Pay users in Tamil Nadu just got a bad news that the UPI app has stopped offering all forms of reward for Tamil Nadu users including stratch cards and Diwali stamps.

No more GPay scratch cards and Diwali stamps for Tamil Nadu users

Reportedly, Google Pay violates the lottery ban rule in Tamil Nadu which was implemented by the then CM of the state J Jayalalitha in 2003 to keep people away from gambling.

The state authorities believe that GPay rewards are similar to lottery where people are encouraged to take chances for the reward.

Google said that restricting online is much different from offline restriction for a selected area as it is complicated as the app works on mobile and it could be accessed from anywhere in the country.

Already, when Tez Shots was introduced for everyone where people can score runs and win scratch card, it was not available for TN users.

In Terms and Conditions of GPay, it reads "This offer is not available to residents of the state of Tamil Nadu (as per Tamil Nadu Prize Scheme (Prohibition) Act 1979) and wherever else prohibited by Law. Residents of these states should not participate in this offer." Well, better luck next time, Tamil Nadu and whoever got the Rangoli stamp anyway?
