The tragic incident in which a Chennai High Court lawyer fainted and died while climbing Velliangiri hills has caused tragedy.

Chennai High Court lawyer dies in Velliangiri hills

Ilancheliyan (age 55) is from Villivakkam, Chennai. He worked as a lawyer in the Chennai High Court. He is married and has 2 children. Two days ago, Ilancheliyan came to Coimbatore from Chennai with his friend Ramamurthy.

It is said that the two then climbed the Velliangiri hill in Coimbatore last Tuesday night, left to see the Swayambhulinga lord on the 7th hill and started descending again at 9 am.

When he reached the 6th hill then, the young man told his friend that he was not in good health and slowly came down the hill. Later, he is said to have fainted when he came near Mount 5 in the evening. A doctor who came for the trek at that time examined the young man and said that he had died. Friend Ramamurthy was shocked to hear this.

Those nearby then informed the police and the forest department. Following this, the body of the youth was brought to the foothills and sent to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for autopsy. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
