NHRC slaps notice to CBSE, TN Chief Secretary over NEET.

The National Human Rights Commission reportedly took ‘suo motu cognisance’ of the difficulties faced by NEET candidates from Tamil Nadu and issued notices to CBSE and Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary. The CBSE and the Tamil Nadu government appear to have “failed to provide examination centres” to students from the state, it reportedly said.

The CBSE chairperson and the state Chief Secretary were ordered to submit a detailed report on why the students had to travel across the state to appear in the examination. Hundreds of students were forced to travel to Kerala to take the test, while many others took the test in some other states.

Taking note of the death of Krishnasamy, the father of a NEET candidate who travelled to Kerala’s Ernakulam to take the test, the NHRC was quoted as saying, “However, as per (the) news report, the CBSE and the NEET authorities have not commented (on) why they failed to create enough exam centres within Tamil Nadu.”
