The Madras High Court refused to ban midnight darshan at Hindu temples in Tamil Nadu on New Year’s Eve, on Thursday. Notably, this response comes after a petition was filed asking the court to direct the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR&CE) to ban midnight darshan as the ‘western new year celebrations were not part of the Tamil Hindu culture and ethos.’
