Kamal Haasan tweets on his way to Tuticorin to take part in tragedy

The 100th day of the Sterlite protest in Thoothukudi turned nasty for the protestors, as violence peaked on Tuesday. Police opened gunfire against the protestors, killing 11. The victims included two women and a teenager.

 

Amidst the chaos and helplessness, actor-politician and the president of Makkal Needhi Maiam, Kamal Haasan voiced his support for the protestors. He tweeted that he will be joining the tragedy of his Thoothukudi siblings. He said, "I am on my way to take part in the tragedy of the brothers and sisters in Thoothukudi, who gave me a warm welcome last week in their soil."

 

After reaching the Thoothukudi Government Hospital, Kamal Haasan extended his comfort to the victims admitted there. He went along with higher officials of the Makkal Needhi Maiam, Kameela Nasser and Suga.
