DRUNK MAN HELD FOR HOAX CALL TO US CONSULATE

A 30-year-old man, who was claimed to be mentally disturbed by his wife was taken to judicial custody on Friday after he made a hoax to the US consulate-general in Nungambakkam. One Shaddique Batcha, a resident of Mannadi was nabbed by the Royapettah police after he called the consulate.

His wife called the Chennai city police control room and apologized and claimed that her husband was mentally disturbed. However, police nabbed him after coming to know that he had on several occasions acted as a carrier to smuggle electronic goods from abroad.
