It was announced that Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami will offer Rs 5 lakh to the family of the college girl who died during a drill on Thursday in Coimbatore. Logeswari, a second-year-student studying in Kalaimagal College of Arts and Science College died after jumping from the second floor in the name of a fire drill.
The college had organised for the drill and brought in Aarumugam as the trainer. It was Aarumugam who pushed down the reluctant Logeswari to her death. While Aarumugam claimed that he was a certified trainer from the National Disaster Management Authority, NDMA dismissed it. NDMA tweeted out that they were not responsible for the accident. Reportedly, Aarumugam has been arrested.
Logeswari's parents, however, want action to be taken against the college for their irresponsibility. Logeswari's father said, "Incidents like this should not happen to anybody else. My daughter is gone, but nobody must be affected in the future. Please take action against the college. That is only the right thing to do now.”
