The flight services in the Chennai airport during 4 am - 8 am on Saturday were severely affected due to the heavy smoke as a result of Bhogi celebrations. People burn their old articles on Bhogi which comes ahead of Pongal. As many as 18 flights, arriving from various destinations such as Kuwait, Sharjah and Delhi, were diverted to Bengaluru and Hyderabad airports. Further, scores of people were made to wait at the airport as no flight took off during 4 am - 8 am.
