According to reports, a Russian transport plane crashed while landing at Russia’s airbase in Syria. All the 32 (26 passengers, six crew) on board were killed. The defense ministry confirmed the incident in a statement which was carried by a Russian news agency.
The United Nations has reportedly sent a 46-truck convoy carrying food and medical supplies to the war-torn Syrian region of Eastern Ghouta, amidst heavy bombing and airstrikes. The convoy is reportedly carrying enough food assistance for 27,500 people, and supplies to treat 300 children for acute malnutrition. Marwa Awad, spokesperson for the World Food Program in Damascus was quoted as saying, “This assistance is a drop in an ocean of needs.”
According to reports, Mohammed Nayeem, leader of a Muslim group in Telangana's Warangal town attempted suicide by consuming poison on live Facebook video on Friday. Reports say, Nayeem took the extreme step after authorities allegedly denied permission for a rally to protest killings in Syria. Reports added that Nayeem was later rushed to a hospital where he is recuperating.
