Gautam Gambhir addressed all the players of the Lucknow Super Giants without giving a duck out and Gambhir delivered the biggest speech inside the dressing room.
Chasing 145, the LSG team was bowled out for just 82 runs. Rashid Khan recorded a brilliant 4/24. Only two players, Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda, were able to record a double-digit score. Mohammad Shami gave up just 5 runs in 3 overs while Sai Kishore and Yash Dayal took 2 wickets each.
After the match, Gambhir, the team's mentor, spoke to the players about the team's performance. It said, "There is nothing wrong in losing. It is absolutely fine. One team has to win one team has to lose. But there is a lot wrong in giving up. Today I thought that we gave up and were weak."
"And honestly, there is no place for being weak in a tournament like the IPL or in sport. That is where the problem is. We have beaten sides in this competition but I felt today we lacked the game sense, which was more important," he added.
With yesterday's victory, the Gujarat Titans became the first team to qualify for the IPL 2022 playoff rounds. At the same time the second-placed LSG team must finish in the top four and advance to the playoffs with at least one more victory. LSG have two more league matches. They will play Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders on May 15 and 18 respectively.
