Earlier, Mike Hesson applied for Team India’s head coach position but was ranked second in the BCCI’s priority list with Ravi Shastri on top. As the Director of Operations, Hesson will be responsible for the overall cricket operations of RCB including defining policy, strategy, programs, scouting, bringing in best practices and performance management. This is a new position created by the franchise to hone the team’s performance in IPL 2020.

“RCB’s purpose is to be the most trusted, respected and best performing T20 franchise and hence our constant endeavour is to create a culture of excellence and high performance for every member of the team. We believe that Mike’s extensive experience in building strong teams along with Simon’s powerful cricket experience will help us create a winning culture,” Sanjeev Churiwala, Chairman of RCB, was quoted as saying by News18.

Royal Challengers Bangalore, under the captainship of Virat Kohli, finished the 2019 edition of Indian Premier League at the bottom of the table.
