"If MSD wanted to carry on…”, Indian legend

Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar reportedly said that the former Indian captain MS Dhoni should not have retired from Test cricket. Gavaskar said that he would have liked Dhoni to give up captaincy and still be with the team as wicketkeeper batsman as his advice in the dressing room would have been invaluable. "If MSD wanted to carry on, he could have carried on,” said Gavaskar. The comment comes after wicketkeeper Pathiv Patel missed a catch during the second Test against South Africa.
