This news came as a shock to all cricket fans after Lahore-born Abdul Qadir passed away. The 63-year-old died in Lahore, his family confirmed on Friday.

Iconic Pakistan legspinner Abdul Qadir dies aged 63 

Pakistani media state that Qadir died following a cardiac arrest.  

Till date, Qadir took 236 wickets in 67 Tests between 1977 and 1990. In the 1980's era before Shane Warne, he was its finest cricketer in the world. 

As per BBC news report, Qadir best performance came when he took 9-56 in an innings against England in his home city of Lahore in 1987.

Earlier in the day, the Pakistan Cricket Board took to social media and said "PCB is shocked at the news of 'maestro' Abdul Qadir's passing and has offered its deepest condolences to his family and friends."

Following PCB's post, former Pakistan team-mate and ex-skipper Wasim Akram asserted that "They called him the magician for many reasons but when he looked me in the eyes and told me I was going to play for Pakistan for the next 20 years, I believed him."

"A magician, absolutely. A leg-spinner and a trailblazer of his time. You will be missed Abdul Qadir, but never forgotten," he further tweeted.
