West Indies cricketer and IPL star Chris Gayle, who was accused by former media group Fairfax media of indecently propositioning a woman in a dressing room during the 2015 World Cup in Sydney has finally come out of the case.

Australian Newspapers Lose Chris Gayle Masseuse Defamation Appeal

Gayle made headlines after the articles were published in the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and the Canberra Times that reported claims where he had exposed himself to a female massage therapist. To which, the IPL star said the stories were not true, and claimed that the journalists were out to destroy him.

Following up on the case, as per BBC reports three Australian newspapers have lost an appeal against a defamation payout that was awarded to Gayle. A court on Tuesday has rejected both the appeal and a bid by Gayle for a larger payout.

It was a good day for Gayle, as a New South Wales court dismissed both appeals.

He won the defamation case in October last year after journalists were motivated by malice and failed to establish a defence of truth. Gayle also appealed the size of his payout, seeking an increase, BBC further reported.

Not just that, Gayle also created a controversy in Australia in 2016 where he tried to flirt with a presenter on live TV. He also asked her out for a drink and telling her: "Don't blush, baby."

Gayle, who is known to be one of world's top cricketers, recently expressed his plans to retire from one-day internationals.
