SREEDHANYA SURESH, BAGS TITLE OF 1ST TRIBAL WOMAN FROM KERALA TO CRACK CIVIL SERVICES EXAM

The state, Kerala, that never fails in its literacy rate, today rejoices to a new feather to its cap. Where, a 26-year-old becomes the first woman from the tribal community in the state to clear the All India civil services exams. Sreedhanya Suresh, who hails from Pozhuthana in Wayanad, has achieved a rare feat. She has passed the civil services examination securing the 410th rank, the highest scored by a tribal student from the state.

Sreedhanya, is the daughter of daily wage labourers Suresh and Kamala, live in their partially completed small house at Ambalakkolly. On speaking to news agency IANS, Sreedhanya's mother Kamala said "Our happiness is sky high... We stretched to the maximum to ensure that she studies well. We ensured that nothing becomes a barrier for her studies and now her hard work has been rewarded".

Earlier today, Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan was among the first politicians to congratulate the 26-year-old. He took to Facebook and said, "Sreedhanya fought the social backwardness and passed the civil services exam with flying colours. Her achievement will inspire other students in the future." Meanwhile, former chief minister Oommen Chandy stated that she is an inspiration to future generations.

The Congress President Rahul Gandhi also took to twitter and congratulate Sreedhanya for her unbeatable success on clearing the All India civil services exams. He tweeted saying, "Sreedhanya's hard work and dedication have helped make her dream come true. I congratulate Sreedhanya and her family and wish her great success in her chosen career."

Sreedhanya is among the 29 Keralites who have cleared the exam. While, R Sreelekshmi (rank 29), Ranjana Mary Varghese (rank 49) and Arjun Mohan (rank 66) are among the others who cleared the exams from the coastal state.
