It was a big day for BJP yesterday, as they swept to victory in the Lok Sabha elections, but one thing that kept everyone talking was BJP candidate Smriti Irani defeating Congress President Rahul Gandhi on his home turf of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
The development came as a shock to many as Gandhi has been the MP from Amethi since 2004. But, Smriti Irani gave him a tough contest and garnered over 3 lakh votes in the parliamentary constituency with vote margin down to a lakh. She, who is also known as the queen of social media and probably one of the politicians in India who knows how to slay the meme game.
According to Indian Express report, Smriti took to her Instagram account to post a Game Of Thrones meme and this time she celebrated her groundbreaking victory and that of her party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, especially in Uttar Pradesh. She posted a picture which had the text 'The North Remembers’ on the backdrop of a moon as a direwolf howled. She posted the picture with a heart, hinting at her massive victory in Amethi.

After winning the seat, Smriti also took to Twitter to celebrate her win by saying, "It's a new morning for Amethi, a new determination. Thanks, Amethi, my obeisance. You put your trust in development and let the lotus bloom. Thankful to Amethi #PhirEkBaarModiSarkaar #VijayiBharat."
