The Lok Sabha elections were held across the country in 7 phases starting April 11. TN voted on April 18th in a single phase. The vote counting is being held today on May 23.

Congress yet again to lose opposition hold?

To become the opposition, a party needs at least 55 seats. Last time in 2014, Congress has won only 44 seats and lost the chance to become the opposition.

Now Congress is leading in only 51 constituencies; they need 4 more seats to become opposition. The awaiting results give hope to Congress while it is clear that BJP has yet again bagged the majority.

BJP has won 4 seats while they are leading in 294. While Congress shared major seats with alliances, BJP contested in major constituencies.
