Modi govt spent Rs 3,755 crore on publicity since April 2014: RTI

The PM Modi-led BJP government has spent Rs 37,54,06,23,616 on publicity from April 2014 to October 2017 through electronic, print media and outdoor advertisements. Reports suggest that the amount is more than the yearly budget allocated to some key ministries and government’s flagship programmes. The information was revealed after the Information and Broadcasting Ministry replied to an RTI query filed by Greater Noida-based social activist Ramveer Tanwar. While over Rs 1,656 crore was spent on electronic media advertisements, print media attracted an expenditure of more than Rs 1,698 crore. The Centre has spent over Rs 399 crore on outdoor ads.
