When news of how an infection that occurred due to the usage of cloth instead of sanitary pads, resulted in a woman’s death, Ajay Kumar Bahl decided to initiate a change in society. After years of hard-work, Bahl is now regarded as a crusader for the poor and deprived communities in our country.

Bahl's NGO, Ek Sangharsh, has changed the lives of thousands of underprivileged children by providing them with books, stationery and most importantly, education.

Diwali is always special for Bahl. Every year, he spends the festival of lights with slum children of Faridabad and passes the message of celebrating the festival in an eco-friendly manner. This year, Bahl has done something that has made the men and women of our country stand up and applaud.

Following in the footsteps of Arunachalam Muruganantham, more popularly known as ‘Padman’, Bahl has distributed 21,000 sanitary napkins to approximately 3,800 women and young girls in Sahupura, Pali, Korali, Chhainsa, Ajronda, Fatehpur Billoch and Samaypur.

He has also helped install sanitary napkin vending machines in many public schools in Haryana, as part of his crusade. Here’s to everyday heroes like Ajay Kumar Bahl. He is not just brightening the lives of people from the underprivileged sections of the society, but is also beating the stigmatisation associated with menstruation—one sanitary pad at a time!
