INDIANS ACCOUNTED TO 74.2% OF H1B VISAS ISSUED IN 2016, SAY REPORTS

Indians accounted to 74.2% of H1B visas issued in USA in 2016

According to a recent report released by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in Washington, Indians accounted to 74.2 per cent of the total H1B visas issued in the United States of America in 2016. Reportedly, the number rose to 75.6 per cent in 2017. China came second after India with 9.3 per cent and 9.4 per cent in the years 2016 and 2017 respectively.

 

The reports however also indicated a decrease in the number of new H1B beneficiaries from India. In 2017, the number of beneficiaries from India for initial employment decreased by 4.1 per cent, but the number of beneficiaries for continued employment increased by 12.5 per cent.

 

Initial employment petitions are filed during first time H1B employment with an employer while continued employment refers to extensions and sequential employment.
