On August 5 2019 (Yesterday), the 70 years of Indian democracy had its major breakthrough after scrapping ‘Article 370’ that was reserved to provide “Special Status” to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Further the state was divided into two Union Territories including Ladakh. The decision had mixed opinions around the World. Former Cricketers Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi also shared their respective views on twitter.

Gambhir replies to Shahid Afridi over Article 370 tweet

While many from the Indian Sports fraternity including Gambhir, Suresh Raina and Mohammad Kaif appreciated BJP’s decision, Jammu and Kashmir’s former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti called it a “Darkest Day in the Indian Democracy”. Pakistan former batsman and bowler, Shahid Afridi questioned the United Nations (UN) and talked about the “unprovoked aggression” and “crimes” against “humanity” in Kashmir. Afridi also tagged Donald Trump to intervene in the issue.

“Kashmiris must be given their due rights as per #UN resolution. The rights of Freedom like all of us. Why was @UN created & why is it sleeping? The unprovoked aggression & crimes being committed in Kashmir against #Humanity must be noted. The @POTUS must play his role to mediate” (sic) wrote Afridi.

Afridi’s tweet had triggered BJP’s East Delhi MP and former Indian Cricketer Gautam Gambhir who sarcastically replied to him saying that “Unprovoked aggression” and “crimes” are happening only in “Pakistan occupied Kashmir”. He also said, “Don’t worry... son”

“@SAfridiOfficial is spot on guys. There is “unprovoked aggression”, there r “crimes against humanity”. He shud be laudedfor bringing this up. Only thing is he forgot to mention that all this is happening in “Pakistan Occupied Kashmir”. Don’t worry, will sort it out son!!!” (sic) replied  Gambhir.
