After reports were certain that Rahul Gandhi was firm on his quitting decision, DMK chief M K Stalin requested Congress president Rahul Gandhi not to step down from his post, saying he has won the hearts of the people though his party lost the general election.

DMK chief Stalin urges Rahul Gandhi not to quit

According to ANI reports, Stalin had a telephonic conversation with Rahul Gandhi and requested him not to step down from presidential post. He also appealed to him to give up the idea of resigning as party president.

Meanwhile, the Congress president, on his part, congratulated MK Stalin over the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance winning 37 of the 38 parliamentary seats in Tamil Nadu.

Media reports further state that, Stalin will participate in the swearing-in ceremony of YSR Congress Party chief Jaganmohan Reddy as Andhra Pradesh chief minister on May 30.

The DMK-led front in Tamil Nadu won 37 of the 38 Lok Sabha seats. The election in the Vellore parliamentary constituency was cancelled by the EC citing abuse of money power.
