Can’t declare cyclone Ockhi as national disaster: Rajnath Singh

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday told that cyclone Ockhi cannot be declared as a national disaster. Speaking in Lok Sabha, Rajnath said the cyclone did not satisfy the guidelines to become the national disaster. However, he admitted that a lot of damage has been caused by the cyclone. PM Modi announced a relief fund of Rs 325 crore for the three cyclone-hit states - Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep.
