After raising for two years, woman’s “puppy” turns out to be an ‘Asiat

A woman in Yunnan, China, was shocked after finding that the “puppy” she had been raising for two years was actually an endangered black bear. Ms Su bought the “puppy”, which she named ‘Little Black’, two years ago during a vacation. However, as the animal, thought to be a Tibetan Mastiff, kept growing, she got suspicious and realised that it was actually a bear cub.

She said that the cub can eat a full box of fruits and two buckets of noodles a day. After finding that the animal was a bear, Ms Su sought help from local Kunming Zoo as it was illegal to raise or keep wildlife animals. However, she failed to furnish the birth certificate of the animal. Later she contacted Kunming Forestry Police who suggested to send the bear to Yunnan Wildlife Rescue Centre.

The endangered bear was over one meter tall and weighed about 200 kilograms. A preliminary medical check-up showed that the bear had no wounds and scars found on the body. The animal in good health was also confirmed to be an Asiatic Black Bear, protected one in China.
