Google is currently facing a class-action suit in the US for tracking users in the "incognito mode", in an alleged invasion of privacy case. In this case, the class-action suit demands $5 billion from Google for violating the Federal Wiretap law and the invasion of privacy Act.

As per a Mirror report, the claims against the tech giant are that they illegally gather information during users’ private browsing sessions. Also, the problem appears to be with Google’s Incognito Mode, that allows users to browse the web privately. This happens through various methods which include Google Analytics, the Google Ad Manager and the Google Sign-In button.

If you go to see, while browsing in Incognito Mode, Google states that it does not save your browsing history, cookies and site data. But, Google is very clear that downloads and bookmarks will still be saved.

Lawyers from Boies Schiller Flexner law firm claim that Google gathered information from users ‘even when those individuals expressly follow Google’s recommendations to prevent the tracking or collection of their personal information and communications,' Mirror reports suggest.

Meanwhile, Google rejected these claims, and stated that “Incognito mode in Chrome gives you the choice to browse the internet without your activity being saved to your browser or device. As we clearly state each time you open a new incognito tab, websites might be able to collect information about your browsing activity during your session," a spokesperson said.

If you want to know, are you eligible? Then if Google is forced to payout, many Google Chrome users could be listed for the big amount. Also, you will need to have used Google’s Incognito Mode since June 1, 2016. But so far, Google is defending itself.
