NIL BATTEY SANNATA CAST & CREW
Production: Colour Yellow, JAR Pictures Cast: Pankaj Tripathi, Ratna Pathak, Ria, Swara Bhaskar Direction: Ashwini Iyer Tiwari Screenplay: Ashwini Iyer Tiwari Story: Ashwini Iyer Tiwari Music: Rohan , Vinayak Cinematography: Gavemic U. Ary

“LOVE” is said to be a universally accepted concept which can hardly bore or get monotonous when told with a varied flavour, even infinite times.  The next subject in the list is definitely “MOTHERHOOD”. Every mother has her own story and each one is unique, touching and incomparable to any materialistic thing on Earth. Nil Battey Sannata is a film dealing with this poetic subject, which will definitely make the viewer stand up and say “IMPRESSED”.

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari emerges as a well researched filmmaker. One might place an argument stating that her gender makes this venture of hers authentic and precise. But that can only stand good for the sake of an argument as the film presents emotions that only a true passionate “filmmaker” can manifest.

Actress Swara Bhaskar and Ria Shukla confidently shoulder the film through its engaging narrative with their brilliant performances. Nothing seems to come in between their conviction as an actor and the audience. No fear. No inhibitions! They look convincing as a mother-daughter duo. Ratna Pathak on the other hand, seems to entertain you in any role she plays. A serious or a casual one, she exhibits comfort in her work which transcends good signals to the viewer.

Jigarthanda fame Gavemic U Ary behind the camera has captured the essence of lower middle class areas of Northern India perfectly. His canvas and play with lights also demand a mention. The background score and the songs help you relate to the film more and consequently tethers the viewer on to the tale.

A very native, relatable problem dealt with a similar native and relatable approach brings this story closer to you. The film proceeds with an underlined humour, which never lets melodrama take over. Take your mother to this film as there would be at least one instance that you can totally relate to irrespective of your financial, social or linguistic background. If you are a parent, definitely show this piece to your children to make your parenting a much easier task.

“God’s greatest creation is Mother” says the end card of Nil Battey Sannata bringing every soul present in the cinema hall to a joint agreement. This harmony makes your palms involuntarily kiss each other!

Verdict: Nil Battey Sannata is a film that you would regret if missed, as such is its charisma.
