Samuthirakani hails from television and having apprenticed under veteran K Balachader, he made his mark as a director in Nadodigal and Porali. Kani as he is fondly called by his friends also showcases his talent in front of the camera in films like Subramaniapuram, Easan, Saattai and the latest Neer Paravai. Known for his passion towards the medium, Kani is directing Jayam Ravi and Amala Paul in Nimirndhu Nil.
