Nenjil Thunivirundhal is director Suseenthiran's latest in the movie-with-a-message genre, the plot of which revolves around the friendship of 'Kumar' and 'Mahesh', played by Sundeep Kishan and Vikranth respectively. Through the journey of these characters, many social issues are discussed and morals are preached.

The film's cast includes Soori, Harish Uthaman, Tulasi, Appu Kutty, Mehreen Pirzada, Sathiga, and others playing important characters. It would be fair to suggest that all have done justice to the scope of their characters well, if not spectacularly. Sundeep's voice is refreshing to hear, and Vikranth has delivered his usual best, but he needs to look for roles where he has a lot to do. Playing the villain, Harish is probably the most effective engaging factor in the film.

Mehreen, who plays the heroine, is less than convincing mainly due to lack of screen space. The meeting and budding of romance between her and Sundeep could have been portrayed in a more endearing manner. Comedy sequences led by Soori make us giggle here and there, but they are all too familiar with characters he has already played.

The story has a sense of mystery that helps thicken the plot a bit. But when it unfolds, we are reminded of similar plots in movies in the past, where there is a battle for justice against the rich, powerful and corrupt. The visuals and background music aid the situations and scenes in bringing out the mood intended by Suseenthiran. The film has an adequate dose of well-choreographed action sequences, courtesy Anbariv.
