TAMIL MOVIE RELEASE EXPECTATION

Kumki witnesses the launch of a star son – Vikram Prabhu, son of Prabhu Ganesan and grandson of the legendary Sivaji Ganesan. Directed by Prabhu Solomon, whose romantic drama Mynaa brought Amala Paul to Tamil and also won him acclaim, is back with the story of a mahout. The movie promises to be a tale of love which is shot extensively in the virgin forests of Kerala and Karnataka.

Kumki’s lead role Bomman is played by Vikram Prabhu who underwent rigorous training before the movie kicked off for the role of a mahout. He is joined by Lakshmi Menon, Thambi Ramaiah, Junior Balaiah, Aswin and Joe Malloori in supporting roles. 

According to director Prabhu Solomon, Kumki – meaning a trained elephant that is used to guide wild ones back to the forest – is a love story set in the backdrop of some exotic locations. He confessed, during the audio launch, that he wants the movie to be bigger than Mynaa. Some of the most noted locations in which the movie was shot include Jog Falls and Orissa border.

Kumki is scored by D Imman, whose tracks for Mynaa won him critical acclaim.  Kumki has 7 songs sung by the likes of Benny Dayal, Haricharan, Shreya Ghoshal, Alphons Joseph and Imman himself. Written by Yugabharathi, the songs are already populating the airwaves of Tamil Nadu. Audio was launched by Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth and received by Suriya.

Prabhu Solomon is hoping to recreate the Mynaa magic in Kumki which is releasing this weekend.
