Yai Nee Romba Azhaga Irukey

At the heart of Vasanth’s Yai Nee Romba Azhaga Irukey is a brilliant romantic notion: that the truest love is unrequited love. What does this mean in the context of this film? Shyam loves Sneha but Sneha is not in love with Shyam. What is Shyam to do? Kill himself? Drink himself to death (like Devdas?) hate Sneha for life? Shyam’s deepest held (and moving) conviction is that nothing changes. He will simply continue to love her; there will be no other for him. Vasanth deserves to be congratulated for bringing such gentleness, depth and complexity into our notion of love into our otherwise shallow love stories.
