Gautham Menon apologizes to Mugamoodi team

The trailer and first look of Mysskin’s Mugamoodi was released in a grand event at the Sathyam Cinemas today. Suriya, Gautham Menon, Kalaipuli S Thanu, KV Anand, Jayam Raja and SP Jananathan graced the function. Suriya launched the first look and all the dignitaries jointly released the trailer. The theater resounded with claps and whistles when the trailer was screened.

UTV’s Dhananjayan Govind welcomed everyone for having been present at the special occasion and said, “The film has come out well. 80% of the film was shot during the night. We are looking to release the audio in July and the film on August 31st”.

Actor Suriya, during his speech praised the entire crew and said, “It’s good to be here along with all the giants of the film industry. Mysskin is a very good director. Every film of his is different from each other. Jiiva has been selecting his projects beautifully. The trailer shows the amount of efforts he has put in and it is making me want to see the entire film. I wish him and the entire crew all the best.”

Jiiva expressed his gratitude to the entire team and said, “After 5 years, kids will start calling me ‘Mugamoodi uncle’. Mysskin has transformed me like that in this film. He is such a meticulous worker, a perfectionist and I’m sure this film will be a turning point in my career.”

Nassar, who also plays a part in the film, said that Jiiva has worked very hard for this film. “Once during a night shoot, I told him that his costume was looking superb on him. He said that it was hell wearing the costume. But he also said that he was enjoying the pain,” added Nassar.

Narain said that Mysskin has brought out the barbarous villain, which was hidden inside him. “This film will be a turning point in my career,” added Narain.

Director Gautham Menon started off by apologizing to the Mugamoodi team for taking away Jiiva’s dates for Neethane En Ponvasantham. “They would have completed the shoot and released it by now, if it was not for me. Jiiva is a very dedicated actor. He will do the shoot for Neethaane En Ponvasantham during days and Mugamoodi during nights,” said Gautham.

KV Anand jokingly said that he was jealous of Mysskin. “I impose on fast editing and camera techniques in my films to make the audience glued to their seats. But Mysskin uses very long shots and still manages to keep the audience engaged. That is the beauty of his work,” he praised.

Finally,  director Mysskin thanked his producers, team UTV and Sidharth Roy Kapoor for making his dream project a reality. “This project is my childhood dream and I’m very happy with the way it is shaping up. The film required a lot of efforts, mainly from Jiiva. The costume he wears has 120 pieces. It is very heavy and has got no ventilation. It is impossible to wear it for more than 2 minutes. Believe it when I say, when Jiiva removes the dress after shoot, there will be smoke coming out of his body. He even suffered fungal infections due to the costume. But that never stopped him from working hard. He is very dedicated to his job,” said the director. He also thanked his assistant Buvan for being very helpful. “My assistant Buvan is the primary reason for this project to come out so well. When I was tired of my search for a good stunt choreographer, he went around a couple of countries and fetched me Tony Leung Siu Hung from Thailand, who has worked with top martial artistes like Bruce Lee. And the result has been spectacular,” he said.
