Vijay's friend Srinath on Sarkar Controversy

Vijay's latest film Sarkar hit the screens on Diwali day, that is November 6. The movie had Keerthy Suresh as the female lead while Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Pala Karuppiah and Radha Ravi had important supporting roles.

The film was directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Sun Pictures. The political scenes in the film have created a controversy, and this led to cadres of a political party tearing banners in theatres and asking for scenes to be cut. The makers also followed suit to avoid any problems, and changes have been made in 3 scenes.

Talking about this controversy, Vijay's friend, director and actor Srinath explained why Vijay will continue making political films.

"Vijay's vision has now changed towards the people. More than his audience, and the family crowd, he wishes to do something for the people of the state. He can obviously do a film like Krrish, make it run in theatres for many days, earn money, satisfy fans and go. But, why should he make films like Kaththi, Mersal or Sarkar? Like how Aamir Khan is choosing films in Bollywood, Vijay is doing it here.

He is doing films with a social responsibility and maturity. He still hasn't started his revolution. I don't understand why so much controversy is created and he is targetted. Such films have been made in the times of MGR and Kalaignar.

I think he is doing so because it is in his blood. It won't stop, and who knows, tomorrow his son Sanjay might do something similar. It is a citizen's duty to do this. Everything is to bring a change, and hopefully this 'Oru Viral Puratchi' will be a first step for Vijay's Political career."
