Soundarya Rajinikanth is a Tamil filmmaker and producer who made her directorial debut with the Rajinikanth-starrer motion capure epic 'Kochadaiyaan'. She was last seen helming the sequel to 2014 blockbuster 'Velai Illa Pattadhari'. She had also produced the Venkat Prabhu directorial Goa under the banner Ocher Picture Productions.
The graphic designer-turned-director had recently partnered up with video streaming service MX-Player to produce the web-series adaptation of the five-part novella Ponniyin Selvan. The director has tweeted that she will be doing justice to the much-acclaimed novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy. She had also mentioned that the preparations are under way.

The makers had released the title design teaser of the web series on Jan 30. The series will be produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth under the banner May 6 Entertainment in association with MX Player and the project will be helmed by Sooriyaprathap.
