Actor Santhanam was last seen on screen in ‘Dhilluku Dhuddu 2’ that also featured Shritha Sivadas in the lead role, while Rajendran and Urvashi play supportive roles. Written and directed by Rambhala, this sequel had managed to impress audiences and critics alike.
Post which, the actor had bagged some projects - one directed by Kannan, ‘A1’ which is directed by debutant Johnson and Dagaalty, directed by Vijay Anand, a former assistant of director Shankar to name a few.
The actor had recently revealed two of his amazing looks from his upcoming film, Dagaalty. However, his first look in which he can be seen smoking in the poster had created a mixed opinion and the actor has taken to his social media and wrote, “"Dacalty" first look poster was inadvertently uploaded. Have realised that it may promote smoking which is injurious to health. Will ensure my future films will never carry such posters.”

Jointly produced by SP Chowdhary's 18 reels and Santhanam's Handmade films, the film also features Rittika Sen and Yogi Babu. The film’s music is scored by Vijay Narain.While Deepak Kumar Padhy is the cinematographer, T.S. Suresh handles the cuts of the film, dance choreography by Shobhi and Silva manages the stunts.
