J.C Daniel - A Tamilian - The father of Malayalam Cinema

Sep 01, 2013

The year 2013 is marked as the 100th year of Indian Cinema. It was earlier reported that the celebration of the 100th year of Indian Cinema will be conducted by the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC). It will be a three day event from the 25th to the 27th of September.

In this special month, we can witness the release of J.C Daniel, which is a biopic of the father of Malayalam Cinema, J.C Daniel Nadar.  The movie is a dubbed version of the Malayalam movie Celluloid, which is directed by Kamal. Prithviraj and Mamta Mohandas have played the lead in the film.

Harish Hero, the executive producer of J.C Daniel spoke to us about what makes J.C Daniel stand out from other dubbed movies.

I would not call this movie a dubbed movie. I would rather call it an ADR (Additional Dialogue Recording) because, the dialogues have been written according to the lip sync so that the audience don’t feel the disconnect. We have taken extra care in making sure that people get the feeling that it is a movie which is actually shot in Tamil. More such ADR movies should come up so that the quality of dubbed movies gets better.”

It should be noted that, although J.C Daniel is considered the father of Malayalam Cinema, he is a Tamilian.

Yogaraj Balasubramaniyam has produced the film under the banner Never Give up Cinemax. The movie is waiting for certification at the moment and is expected to hit the screens by the end of September.
