A sneak peek into Vijay's song in Thalaivaa

May 07, 2013

Bhang is a traditional concoction substance consumed for recreational purposes or festive occasions, known to lighten up the senses. In Anbe Sivam, Kamal warns Madhavan of consuming too much bhang before the two break into a song and jig.

In Thalaivaa, Vijay too is under the influence of bhang, according to the spoken word intro of the highly anticipated song which he himself has rendered. An incomplete version of the song ‘Vaanganna Vanakkangana’ featuring the voices of Vijay and Santhanam has been doing the rounds on the internet offering an ‘unofficial’ sneak peek of the tune.

The song is quite folksy in nature and its highlight would undoubtedly be Vijay’s singing as he does exceptionally well to give the impression that he is buzzed. His nuances are in top order to denote his state of mind. Musically though, the song carries familiar strains of G.V. Prakash’s earlier tunes which borders along the same theme. But the song’s form, shape and color are defined solely by Vijay himself.

The incomplete track could have well been sourced from the shooting spot.
