Director Sargunam has commenced shooting for his next movie, Nayyandi, starring Dhanush and Nazriya Nazim in the leads. Since the movie has a village milieu, the filming is also happening in authentic rural areas over the past week or so near Mannargudi in a village called Edamelaiyur.

Unfortunately in a freak incident, two junior artistes who were working in this movie, Saraswathi (24) and Viji (21), drowned when they went to take bath in a pond in the village. A third junior artist, Suganya (22) also accompanied them to the pond, but she was rescued by people who were passing by the spot. She was also a novice in swimming.

Police then arrived at the spot and sent the two bodies for postmortem while Suganya was admitted to a nearby hospital where she is receiving the necessary treatment.

This unfortunate incident has sent a wave of shock in the village and also among the junior artistes fraternity.
