The
most talked about marriage of the industry
is just a few days away. Everyone seems
to be happy and celebrating in their own
way. But this highly popular marriage is
giving jitters to a few people in the industry.
They are reportedly very apprehensive about
the marriage of Surya to Jyothika. They
are not counselors or astrologers who doubt
the compatibility of the pair. In fact they
have no qualms about the pair getting married
and ‘living happily ever after’,
they would be only too happy to wish the
couple the very best in life. The only problem
that these people seem to have is with the
date of the marriage.
Not
that Sep. 11 is inauspicious for a
marriage. It is just that the date
is far ahead of the proposed date
for the release of what could well
be Jyothika’s last movie. These
people are the producers of this movie.
Why would the producers of a movie
concern themselves with the marriage
date of their movies heroine?
The reason seems to be very unconvincing,
but the producers seem to be worried
no end by the upcoming wedding. They
seem to think that Jyothika’s
marriage will adversely affect her
image which will affect box office
collections. Their worries are further
accentuated by the fact that the movie
revolves around Jyothika and there
is no hero on whose shoulders the
film can ride.
So,
if the film has to have a good run, it has
to be due to the Jyothika fan following,
which the producers feel will be reduced
after her marriage. Though the reason seems
to be very hollow, it cannot be totally
ignored because we all know very well that
Jyothika’s fan following consists
mostly of youngsters. The producers’
worries seem to be compounded by the fact
that the prospective distributors of the
movie are raising these questions time and
time again.
Well, nothing can be said until the movie
actually releases. If the movie has quality
it sure will do good business. Whatever
be the issues, the marriage is going to
go ahead as planned on the 11th of Sep.
and the drama of the movie will then unfold.
By the way, the movie is titled Mozhi and
is being produced by Duet Movies.
