When the reason was probed, it was understood that the film is full of newcomers and director Jeevan had written a character keeping Prakash Raj in mind.

However when Prakash Raj heard the story, he opined that the character would suit Kanja Karuppu better and requested the director to cast him. Talking about this incident Karuppu says, “Prakash Raj is such a big actor and people are waiting in queue to cast him. When such a great actor recommends my name, I should consider myself very fortunate”. Kanja Karuppu will be donning the role of a village officer in Mayilu which will be very different from the roles that he has been playing all along.
