Chit Chat with Asin
By Behindwoods News Bureau.
October 06, 2007
In Kollywood, the current front runner among heroines is undoubtedly the Malabar beauty Asin who is working round the clock and shuttling between shoots of Vel, Dasavatharam and Hindi Gajini. Her career has certainly shaped up well and will be the dream of any aspiring actress. Currently she is shooting for Dasavatharam in Uthandi where she had a chat with our Behindwoods correspondent.

Reacting to a statement on her being flashed all over the print and visual media especially after the release of Dasavatharam stills, the lady modestly thanked everyone with an alluring smile and requested that she be permitted to abstain from answering posers on Dasavatharam story as it is a highly guarded secret.

Her current colleagues seem to have been smitten by her professionalism as she has been drenched with encouraging accolades by none other than Aamir Khan for her performance; director Hari has not stopped raving about her sincerity and acting skills and Kamal is singing hosannas on her voice modulation. To a poser on arguably being number one in the industry she says, “For me it is important to earn everyone’s good will and get a name for myself as sincere and dedicated artist. I certainly don’t concentrate in number games”.

Asin is one of the few actresses in the industry who dubs for herself but her dubbing has assumed significance now. When she was questioned on this she said, “As I speak the language of a Brahmin girl hailing from Tanjore belt in Dasavatharam, people seemed to be taking notice of this”. She is also very upbeat about being appreciated by the doyen of Indian film industry Kamal Hassan and is awed by his candidness when it comes to encouraging someone if they do well.

Hindi Gajini is being shot in live sound format and the actress recalls with pride about the accolade she received from Aamir Khan on her Hindi diction and pronunciation. It was said that the Khan was mighty impressed with the way she spoke the language sans an accent. While talking about Vel, she says that the film has evinced a lot interest as she is coming together with Surya after Gajini. She is very satisfied with the way the film has shaped up.
